Hi! My name is Lizzy and I'm a photographer and videographer. I'm currently filming and editing a documentary series on redlining, called "Divisible". The project examines the national policy of redlining, using Omaha, Nebraska as a case study to discuss its importance and continued impact.
Outside of working on the docu-series, I freelance for Getty Sports Images and previously freelanced for the Warren for President Campaign. Before that, I worked full time as the Lead Photographer and Videographer at Triarc, an advertising and marketing agency in Boulder, Colorado. After graduating from Boston College in 2019, I completed an internship with the photography team at Major League Baseball in New York City.
I consider photography and videography both an art form and a compelling storytelling-tool. I understand how powerful media exposure and representation can be in a world that is increasingly plugged-in. As a result, I ultimately hope to dedicate my life to capturing visually striking stories of marginalized communities and environmental issues that are too frequently overlooked and ignored.
Building a community of people working at the intersection of social justice and media. This is where my passions lie, but I have spent most of my career in other spaces in the photo/video world. I would love to connect with artists who focus on using their talents to uplift and support undervalued and underrepresented narratives and issues.
None of us get to decide what types of privileges we have when we enter into the world. They are doled out indiscriminately in the lottery of life. While we don't get to choose whether we or anyone else has privilege, we do get to decide what we do with it. Those who have privilege have a constant responsibility to use it to help those who don't have the same privileges. If successful, the privileges I have benefitted from my whole life will no longer be available to me, as they are dependent on the oppression of others.
Cloning - I have an identical twin who is a middle school history teacher. Whenever I visit her, we try to trick her students. It works every time.
In another life, I want to own a café/bar that serves mainly as a community gathering space. There will be lots of comfy seating, mood lighting, art all over the walls, board games, and PLANTS. Lots of plants. Oh, and big big big windows.
Song lyrics -- I am convinced there is an entire section of my brain just dedicated to song lyrics. It must have a thorough organizational system too, because I will still be able to sing along to a song, even if I haven't heard it in decades.
How to whistle with your fingers -- I'm not a very good whistler, but I learned this trick in college and it's hailed many taxis for me ever since.
