I am a visual artist working in mixed media drawing, painting and sculpture. I have a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago & Kala Bhavan, Santiniketan India. My current practice explores urban spaces through dichotomous ideas of construction and destruction, preservation and regeneration, man-made and organic environments, creating transformative spaces and objects that recall historical ruins and geological formations that have the potential for material evolution. Mapping cityscapes through narratives of its past and the future, my preoccupation with building a research-based practice on the subject has led her to work with several mediums that started with drawing and now includes sculpture and found object. She was one of the two artists representing India in the SAARC Art Camp for ‘Climate Change,’ in Bhutan in 2010. I have been a resident artist at Space 118, Mumbai several times from 2010 to 2013 and the Piramal artist residency in 2016. I have also has conducted several workshops in art with children and adults in Mumbai with the Mohile Parikh Center, Art 1st artist mentor, The Art Loft and Chicago at the Korean American Center along with private workshops in Kolkata and Bangalore.
