After 50 years of printing things, almost nothing gets Andrew more excited than working with others in the incredibly powerful act of creating a physical printed object out of the simple tools of paper, pen, pencil, crayon and ink. I will speak on my own pattern of print; specifically the independent and experimental use of print for creative self-expression and collaboration, that has driven me, excited me and delighted me for as long as I can remember. There’s something magical about this act of self-publishing that allows for self-expression through tangible objects that can be easily shared with others.

About the speaker

I am a designer, artist, educator and small press publisher. As a designer and art director, my mission is to design a web that is more humane, that is crafted ethically, that is available to all visitors regardless of ability, and that is built using open source technologies. I also run a small, nascent and indie Riso-powered press, creating and publishing my own and other artists books. My research interests include everyday typography, Jewish visual culture, and the concept of conscious design. I’m also interested in the strange and strained relationship between design and belief.
