Welcome to April in spectacular Autumn fashion!

As the trees undress and redress themselves in preparation for a change in climate, we are delighted that they choose to do so softly… slowly, procrastinating the cold winter months that lie ahead of us.

And in keeping with the times and tides, our northern Italian chapter of Turin chose this month’s theme of exploration that addresses just that: PROCRASTINATE

Procrastination can be a sort of art form: the art of deferred action. It’s a technique that’s got a bad reputation, one often tinged with shame due to the connotations given by our society. But in fact, it can also be full of potential, allowing you a way to claim how you spend your time and harbour creative possibility.
And this topic is right up the creative spirit alleyway of this month’s speaker, Dr Anja Venter.

Anja is multi-faceted and talented individual who has managed to merge the worlds of art, culture and technology into a beautiful blend of visual communication that pushes the boundaries of digital media and design.

She has produced fantastic work for a variety of well-known clients and platforms in the commercial, comic and gaming worlds and you will also find her name in academic articles, opinion pieces or imparting her experience while teaching digital and media courses.

It comes as no surprise that she was successfully awarded her Masters degree which focused on video game culture in marginal settings. But wait for it... also her Ph.D which was the first interdisciplinary thesis established by both Computer Science and Media Studies departments and looked at how digital creative tools, particularly those on mobile devices, can assist in democratizing visual design capabilities.

Rumour has it that she is also working on her first novel… but, where does she find the time?
