Luis Chen took the stage in the theater at Bamboo Grand Rapids, with the purpose of teaching over 100 people all about the life cycle of food waste, soil regeneration, and of course, worm poop.

About the speaker

Luis Chen is the founder of Wormies Compost, a 13 acre worm farm located in Alto, Michigan. Wormies specializes in collecting food scraps through a convenient pickup service and producing nutrient-rich worm manure to support local growers. Luis is certified as a compost facility operator by the U.S. Composting Council, highlighting his expertise in sustainable waste management.

Before establishing Wormies, Luis built a successful career as an auditor, working in both Washington, D.C., and his home country of Panamá. Today, he combines his professional experience with his passion for sustainability to create impactful solutions that benefit the environment and the local community.
