Illustrator Dameon Williams touches on how art connects our community
About the speaker
Dameon Williams is an illustrator, visual designer, and brand strategist based in Raleigh.
In 2018, Dameon started an online illustrative series called the ABC’s of February. The goal of the project is to tell the story of historically marginalized groups not mentioned in the history books. Now in its 6th edition. Dameon will use the month of February to visually discuss rural roots and the songs of the south.
His work features projects for nonprofits, higher education and various businesses. he also worked in healthcare, which not only gave him the human interaction he (unknowingly) craved but also (unexpectedly) taught him how to properly incorporate true empathy with human creativity.
Nowadays, you can find him posting historical pieces, often unearthing the past and highlighting the many accomplishments of historically marginalized and underrepresented people. Dameon aims for his work to inform and encourage self-research with his audience.
