Through a fun and interactive zine, Devin Kern guides us through how our unique perspectives allow all of us to embrace ourselves as artists.
Isn’t it interesting that we can all look at the same thing, and see something completely different? Multi-disciplinary artist (and stellar CMNSH volunteer) Devin Kern leads us through a zine that reminds us of the magic and perspectives that only we as individuals can bring to the world. By embracing our own viewpoints and experiences as valid, we can have the courage to create, to confidently call ourselves artists, and maybe even share that outside our phones and desks. The beauty of perspective is that it’s something everyone has, but is truly unique to every person. Perspective is also what makes art subjective, and gives us all the ability to be artists—only you can make the things you’ll make, because only you have your perspective. Our personal perspectives can often be harsh, through self doubt, criticism, or comparison, but capturing your experience is what’s important, even if it’s not perfect. You were brave enough to make something (lots of people don’t even start!) on your own, and that’s worth celebrating. So remember that you’re an artist, dammit, and go out and share your art and perspective with the world.
