Meet Elena Acoba

Elena (Eh-LEN-ah) Acoba (Ah-COE-bah] retired in January after slinging words for 42 years. She’s worked at news organizations and nonprofit organizations in Southern California and Tucson, including the Arizona Daily Star and what’s now VisitTucson. She spent the last 25 years as an independent writer and editor. Among her scores of clients were the Star, Tucson Lifestyle, BizTucson, Madden Publishing, Western National Parks Association, TEP, Roche, Pima Community College and the UA.

Elena has so far spent retirement learning how to play piano, ushering for Arizona Theatre Company and continuing volunteer work with NAMI Southern Arizona. She finds her inner night owl is reasserting itself.
