Hannah du Plessis grapples with acceptance on a journey with ALS
About the speaker
This month at CreativeMornings/Pittsburgh we are honored to present Hanna du Plessis.
Hannah used to be a facilitator supporting groups to reclaim their capacity to stand in resilient relationships and co-create a just and thriving world. For the past decade she taught “Design for Social Innovation” at The School of Visual Arts, and served as a principal at Fit Associates. But suddenly, at 46, she finds herself terminally ill with ALS. Now she is learning how to live while slowly dying. She is publicly sharing her journey on her website: http://okaythen.net/hanna/
On Friday morning, Hanna will be going straight to the heart of our global theme, Acceptance—drawing from her life to reflect on acceptance of her nearing death.
“The experience of my dying body and my world ending is not unique. At this very moment many bodies are dying and many worlds are ending. I don’t want to be dying right now, or live in a world with so much devastation, but here we are. What am I called to do? How am I called to live?” - Hanna du Plessis
