Melanie is a jeweller as well as director and founder of Pieces of Eight. We are very excited to have her join us on this months theme of ‘Love’ - From initial attraction to love lost, Melanie will explore both historic and contemporary jewellery as a powerful symbol for this universal human emotion.
About the speaker
Melanie Katsalidis is the director and founder of Pieces of Eight Gallery which she established in 2005. Located in Melbourne's CBD, Pieces of Eight has built a solid reputation as one of the most exciting and original of its kind, presenting the best selection of artist made jewellery and small objects.
Housed in a custom-built space she designed with her architect father, the gallery showcases the collections of carefully selected artists. Regular exhibitions and events bring new ideas and energy into the space and include large scale window installations. A focus on creativity extends to working with clients and artists on bespoke commissions to create a unique outcome to be treasured for years to come.
Melanie trained as a gold and silversmith and is a practicing jeweller, her studio is located above the gallery.
