About the speaker

MURUGIAH is a British Sri Lankan multi-disciplinary artist, illustrator and designer working in London.

With a colourful and surreal aesthetic, he playfully explores the joyful, sometimes bittersweet, experience of his daily life and identity. Infused with candy-coated dreams and peppered with South Asian motifs, his work ranges from public sculpture to illustration and design projects.

Trained in architecture, but working as an illustrator & artist for the last decade, MURUGIAH has collaborated with clients including Faber & Faber, Refugee Week, The Stanley Kubrick Estate, Apple and Elton John.

Additional details

For our April event, we’re excited to welcome beloved artist MURUGIAH to the CreativeMornings/London stage!

We can’t wait to celebrate MURUGIAH’s surrealist, kaleidoscopic world and his first solo exhibition: MURUGIAH: Ever Feel Like… launching in May.

His show will be the inaugural exhibition at the brand new Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration, which opens its doors to the public in Clerkenwell in May. As the world’s largest dedicated space for illustration, the Centre will present regularly changing exhibitions across three galleries, showcasing the breadth and dynamism of illustration—art that communicates stories and ideas.

Set in the grounds of an 18th-century waterworks and accessible to the public for the first time, the Centre will be the UK’s only permanent place for illustration and a landmark for the artform.
