Geminelle Rollins talks about this month’s global theme of ‘Procrastinate.'
About the speaker
For San Diego born-and-bred R&B singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Geminelle, music and healing are one and the same.
This purposeful exchange is central to Geminelleâs own journey as an artist. Though she started making music at age 13, her nationwide 2014 Follow the Music tour allowed her to realize just how far her craft could take her. That same year would find Geminelle leaving her native California and moving to New York, where she became part of Black contemporary artists collective, Tunnel Vision; released her 2016 debut Audiobook LP; and joined the female and non-binary-led activism group, Resistance Revival Chorus.
These creative communities opened new doors for Geminelle, from sharing a stage with Kesha at the Grammys and Jim James on Fallon; to working with Tiffany Gouche and Valerie June on the Resistance Revival Chorus Album, This Joy; and performing at SXSW and The Roots Picnic. Her time in New York not only expanded her creative network, but it also illuminated her personal path into holistic healing through music.
When Geminelle returned to San Diego in 2019, she delved deeper into the artist community back home and her wellness-focused Mantra Loops series. In what she describes as her âmost successful project yet,â the Mantra Loops album and ongoing virtual meditation series elevates the universal teachings and affirmations that have always been embedded in Geminelleâs music. âThis is specifically designed for us to heal and to grow.â
