About the speaker

This month's theme is 'Simplicity'.

What if we imagined simplicity not in terms of absence but essence? In a world of confounding variables, layers of additional nuance, mind-boggling systems, simplicity drives us to get to the deep core of the matter. The heart unifies the whole.

Our heart, simply put, is all about food. And to keep things simple, we looked at our bookshelves and realised 'Simple' was everywhere. . . . and realised 'Simple' was everywhere. So we're ecstatic to invite Tara, co-author of SIMPLE,and now author of her own book, HOW TO BUTTER TOAST to the stage.

HTBT is all about not getting overwhelmed by all the different way things can be done in the kitchen (as in life). There is no often no 'right' or 'wrong' way: just different ways!

MEET THE SPEAKER:
Tara worked in publishing for the best part of a decade before switching to food and writing in 2010. She trained at the Ballymaloe cookery school, in Ireland, before starting to work with Yotam Ottolenghi in 2011. Initially testing recipes with Yotam, she soon became his writing collaborator.

Tara was very involved with the creation of PLENTY MORE (2014) and is credited on the title page with the writing of THE NOPI COOKBOOK (2015), the re-launched edition of the first OTTOLENGHI COOKBOOK (2016), SWEET (2017) and FLAVOUR (2020). She is the co-author of SIMPLE (2018), with Yotam Ottolenghi and FALASTIN (2020), with Sami Tamimi. Tara lives in South London with lots of her family, lots of whom wake up, most mornings, to the smell of her charring aubergines.
