About the speaker

Tammy Nguyen Lee is a producer, filmmaker, and actor who founded ATG Against The Grain Productions to uplift Asian American voices and create spaces for representation, compassion, and connection through the arts. A first-generation Vietnamese American and proud Texan, she has been nationally recognized for her leadership and service, receiving honors such as the SMU Distinguished Alumni Emerging Leader Award, the NAAAP 100, and the “Inspiring Women of the Southwest” award.

A graduate of Southern Methodist University with a B.A. in Cinema (with double minors in French and Business) and of UCLA’s elite MFA Producers Program, Tammy has dedicated her career to storytelling with purpose. Her debut feature documentary, Operation Babylift: The Lost Children of Vietnam, touched audiences around the world and won multiple audience awards. She is currently developing Light of Day, a documentary exploring domestic violence in the Asian community and healing from post-war intergenerational trauma, as well as writing a motivational children’s book to inspire the next generation.

Dedicated to bridging communities, Tammy has given her time and voice to numerous nonprofit organizations and leadership programs. She calls Dallas home, where she is raising three children with the same values of love, resilience, and service that shaped her own journey.
