About the speaker
Community, we're switching it up this month! We're excited to bring you a special CreativeMornings/New York experience with Pop-Up Magazine.
Grab your headphones and head outside for Pop-Up Magazine’s Field Guide: Trees, an immersive storytelling experience made for and inspired by the world around us. On your walk, tune in as Radiolab’s Molly Webster examines the trees of her childhood, a wildland firefighter becomes the first woman to lead her unit in Arizona, a four-year-old takes us on a treehouse tour in Louisiana, an activist lives in a tree for 449 days, and more — profound, unexpected, moving and life-changing stories.
Participants will log in and join the CreativeMornings/NYC and Pop-Up Magazine teams for a brief group introduction, and then head outside to find a special tree and explore the world around us.
Please plan to turn cameras on if you’ll be heading outside, and audio off at the start of the experience.
This immersive experience unfolds as one chapter in a 4-part miniseries (Walking, Water, Night Sky, and Trees). Explore Pop-Up Magazine’s entire Field Guide miniseries and pre-order the special print edition with photography and illustrations at
popupmagazine.com/fieldguide.
Pop-Up Magazine is the premier "live magazine" featuring your favorite and future favorite storytellers, filmmakers, photographers, and podcasters.

Harvest is a web-based time tracking and invoicing application relied on by thousands of people around the world, from freelancers to small businesses to departments of Fortune 500 companies. Harvest founders Danny Wen and Shawn Liu had searched for tools to help their agency scale with more efficient methods to track time and send invoices. Unable to find one, they invested their own time, energy, and money into creating what they knew was a better way to run the business—and Harvest was born.
Additional details
Plan for 30 minutes outside, which could be a walk or sitting in one spot, or anything in between. You may be out in nature, or maybe you’ll be finding nature in the city. Plan accordingly! If you can’t easily access a tree, don’t worry, we’ll have some suggestions for you and you can still participate.
In advance, participants are asked to think about a safe, socially distant space you can head to while listening to your headphones. Don’t forget your mask, water, extra layers, or sunglasses as needed.
We’ll kick off the event together on Zoom with some stretches, and reconvene after to share about the experience.
If you are unable to head outdoors with us, we invite you to join us and experience the storytelling and take in the visuals of walks from your community members!
For this event, we ask that indoor participants keep your cameras off for an optimal immersive experience. This is unusual for us, but it will be worth it—trust us!
Enjoy while sitting at your desk, on your couch, or lounging on your bed.
