About the speaker
I’m what a jazz artist is, if words were an instrument.
Born and raised in Zimbabwe.
I come from a people who are not fluent in academic-speak or otherwise professional lingo.
That is a second language. Perhaps a language we—
Zimbabweans—are actually fluent in, but a second language all
the same! In the context of the socio-economic circumstance of
the vendor economy that is Zimbabwe, we speak fluently in
“kungwabva-ngwabva.”
That’s Shona colloquial for creating something out of nothing
every damn day! That sht is magical, and “sht” is a technical
term.
No degree. Some certifications, but never mind that. No fancy
jargon of the suit and tie blokes. No hyper-theorised
“ideologies” to render me woke. No golf-on-weekends
networks. No +10 year experience. No start-up or founder
stories to tell. No big company work history. No trust fund!
For what we lacked in language, we were surely compensated in story. Storied experiences? Yes! We’ve got those in abundance.
I am in service to such.
I fell in love with pen and paper long before I ever cared for a
mic. Poetry led me to stages, formatting itself as Spoken Word.
That in turn has led me to music. Making music quite literally my
words finding a voice.
I have far too much to share about who I am, my journey,
experiences and thoughts. I couldn’t dare put it in a brief bio.
Creative, Writer, Warrior-poet, Storyteller.
