Kevin Huynh
On Growing Your Community
We’re launching a three-part blog series on growing your community. As the former COO (and a past speaker), Kevin Huynh helped grow CreativeMornings from four to over 100 cities. This first one covers how to design a righteous application process. Hungry for more on this topic? Sign-up for our new workshop! Great applicants deserve a great application Whether you run a successful meetup and want to replicate it in other cities or youâre at the helm of a large online community thatâs considering in-person events, youâre probably going to design an application process at some point. By collecting and reviewing applications, youâll find local ambassadors (or whatever you decide to call them: organizers, partners, hub leaders, paladins) who can host your event in new locations. February is Climate
Weâre taking the temperature of our surroundings this month as we dive into Climate in 100+ chapters around the world, presented by MailChimp.
January's theme is Ugly
It may not be pretty, but youâve got to start somewhere. Weâre excited to kick off the New Year with a month around the theme âUgly.â The theme was chosen by our Geneva organizer and we were lucky to have Matt Chase craft our witty illustration. January is about embracing the âuglyâ beginnings of making any vision happen. As stated by past CreativeMornings/ Chicago speaker and brave soul Mig Reyes, this month is all about saying: âI made this, and I was damn proud when I made this â I didnât want it to be beautiful, I just wanted it to exist.â Speakers around the world will dig into the power of âUgly,â from inciting creative rebellion to giving shape to our first fledgling ideas. A few speakers include: Joshua Davis (San Francisco), designer and programmer, on how he works thr...
Celebrating 100 cities and beyond!
We systematically overestimate the value of access to information and underestimate the value of access to each other. âClay Shirky
December's theme is Education
Learning from each other is at the core of every CreativeMornings event. Whether ambitious students or seasoned makers, weâre waking up early in 100 cities (and counting!) to reflect on new ideas. Weâre excited to celebrate that spirit with this monthâs theme of Education, presented by CreativeLive. The theme was chosen by our SĂŁo Paulo team and we were thrilled to have U.S.-based illustrator Christopher David Ryan create our illustration. From Hong Kong, China to Tijuana, Mexico, speakers around the globe promise to teach you something new: Margo Kane, multidisciplinary performing artist using dance to empower First Nations youth (Vancouver) Jorge Camil of Endova, an ed-tech social enterprise (Mexico City) Andrew Kelly, teacher-turned-photographer based in North Korea (Los Angele...
September's Theme is Color
CreativeMornings is not shy of color. Now in 88 creative cities (with a unique color for each one!), CreativeMornings is excited to kick off a full month on the theme of âColor,â brought to you by Squarespace. The theme was chosen by our Paris team, and we were thrilled to have the very talented and crafty Erin Jang illustrate it in her signature, cheerful style.
Celebrating Heritage in Three New Cities

In an effort to highlight Julyâs theme of Heritage around the world, weâre beginning a month-long search for three outstanding organizers who love CM, want to start a chapter locally, and can speak to the concept of heritage in the context of their city. To kickstart the new chapters, each new organizer will receive a $1,000 USD starter sponsorship from MailChimp for the chapterâs first few events. What are the qualities of a great CreativeMornings chapter organizer? In the last five years, 71 volunteer teams have hosted over 1000 free CreativeMornings lectures to create an open, accessible space for their local creative communities to meet up and share ideas. We’re looking for someone who naturally: Makes others shine, celebrating the contributions of others before their own Enthusiastically embraces every challenge as an opportunity Starts from the he...
