CreativeMornings Flair
We’re big fans of flair here at CreativeMornings HQ. Buttons, pins, stickers—you name it. As a lecture series created for and hosted by the creative community, you can expect to see a certain degree of love, care and general craftiness at each of our events happening across 95+ cities around the world. Hand-crafted signage at CreativeMornings/Barcelona, possibly the origin of the first ever large CM sign. From Boston to Bucharest, CreativeMornings organizers and their teams have risen to the challenge to add that extra dose of flair to their events. What we think started with this hand-crafted sign at our Barcelona chapter [above] has since exploded—and you can expect to see a slice of it at a local chapter near you. Below are some of our favorite pieces of flair we’ve...
November's theme is Chance
From Baltimore, Maryland to Perth, Australia, organizers around the world are stepping up to the plate to take risks and start CreativeMornings chapters. Now spanning over 90 cities, they’ve created a space for creative folks around the world to meet some likeminded folks and get inspired. Taking a chance is at the heart of every CreativeMornings chapter. It’s a chance the organizers take to start their own chapter, the chance a speaker takes to share their story and, of course, the chance the attendees take to get up early in the morning and listen. This November, we’re celebrating those uncertainties and risks with the theme of Chance. The theme was chosen by our Sydney team and we were excited to have Sydney-based illustrator Jeremy Lord make this month’s th...
Real Thread at the Summit
All photos by Bekka Palmer. When the good people at Real Thread first reached out to us and said they wanted to make something awesome, we knew that we were among like-minded folks. Avid attendees of our Orlando chapter, Real Thread has been a huge supporter of CreativeMornings, so when the first ever CreativeMornings Summit came up, we saw it as an opportunity to finally collaborate with the screenprinting shop. Jordan, Nathan & Patrick from Real Thread. Based in Florida, Real Thread takes screenprinting t-shirts and other apparel to the next level, adding an extra level of care and love into everything they do. They were easily our first choice for printing the 200 t-shirts for our attendees from around the globe. For the Summit, we used their Next Level 6210 t-shirts in red...
CreativeMornings Summit Recap
For those of you following along online, you may have noticed that October has been a very special month for us. Aside from marking our sixth birthday, October brought the first ever CreativeMornings Summit, where we welcomed over 175 organizers and their teams from 65 cities around the world to Brooklyn. Hand-lettered nametags thanks to help from MailChimp, printed on Moo Luxe postcards. Photo by Bekka Palmer. With attendees representing almost 30 countries, the inaugural CreativeMornings Summit was a two and a half day event that featured talks from seasoned organizers, chapter storytelling, food, workshops, a trip to the MoMA and more. We hosted the event at the Invisible Dog Art Center, kicking things off with some pre-summit brews provided by Sixpoint and some live screenprint...
The First CreativeMornings Summit!
You may have seen the Instagrams or heard our plea for wine donations—we’re hosting the first ever CreativeMornings Summit! (Before you pack your bags and try to snag a ticket, though, the CreativeMornings Summit is only for chapter organizers and their teams.) For the first time, we are inviting all of our chapter hosts and their team members to join us in downtown Brooklyn for the Summit. From Jeju, South Korea, to Berlin, Germany, organizers and their teams are currently making their way to Brooklyn, New York for two days of workshops, talks and discussions on best practices and the future of CreativeMornings. We will gather to exchange stories, learn from each other, create together and, in the spirit of CreativeMornings, (finally) meet in person. In case you were wonderi...
October's theme is Crossover
From Berlin, Germany to Jeju, South Korea, CreativeMornings chapters now span over 85 cities around the world. At the heart of each month is a global conversation, crossing over coastlines and oceans to speak about the intersection of creativity and the month’s theme—whether that’s Sex, Freedom, or, most recently this October, Crossover. The theme was chosen by our Utrecht team and we were excited to have London-based Brazilian illustrator João Lauro Fonte make this month’s theme illustration. This month is all about the creativity that happens in the space of crossover. Speakers this month are looks at the theme from a range of perspectives, each bringing their own to the table. A few include: Doree Safrir, Executive Editor of Buzzfeed, speaking on her storied pas...
Book List No. 11: Color
With Color being such an integral part of the CreativeMornings brand, it’s surprising to think that it’s taken us this long to make it a global theme. Chosen by our Paris chapter and brought to you by Squarespace, this month we’re talking about the reds and the oranges, yellows, greens and even blues and violets. We’re covering the entire spectrum from Budapest to Minneapolis, digging into color as it pertains to diversity of a community, as well as a painter’s palette. This month’s book list is more of the latter, highlighting some rainbow reads we discovered from our community as well as September’s speaker line up. Check them out! The Top Ten: Visual Miscellaneum: A Colorful Guide to the World’s Most Consequential Trivia, by Davi...
Book List No. 10: Failure

CreativeMornings Smiles
Smile! Each month, 7,000 creative folks around the world meet up at local CreativeMornings chapters to get inspired and meet new people. We think that that is something to smile about. Dedicated to those fearless morning people, we created CreativeMornings Smiles to celebrate those thousands of smiling faces that wake up for CreativeMornings every month. Our friends at Squarespace generously sent out Smilebooths to over a dozen events to highlight the good looks and photobooth skills of the CreativeMornings community. CreativeMornings Smiles Built on Squarespace, CreativeMornings Smiles showcases the pearly whites of attendees from Atlanta, Houston, San Francisco, Austin, Chicago, Nashville and New York City—with more to follow in the coming months! Check out some of the fantastic...
August's theme is Failure
If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again—and then get up on a stage in front of 50+ people and talk about it. That’s what’s happening at CreativeMornings chapters around the world this month as we talk about this Augusts’s theme of “Failure.” This month’s theme might be Failure, but it should be anything but a flop. This month is all about those epic flunks and graceless tumbles. The theme was chosen by our Singapore team and we were excited to have photographer Bill Wadman depict it in his conceptual narrative style. Speakers will talk to their own vulnerabilities, nonsuccesses, and fizzles, but—most importantly—the aftermath, how they dusted themselves back off, learned from their mistakes, and went on to create something greater than ...

Morning Person: Fabian Pfortmüller
Fabian Pfortmüller caught our attention when he first took the stage at our CreativeMornings/Zürich chapter in 2011, where he spoke on the importance of design with a conscience. (Editor’s Note: CreativeMornings/Zürich is looking for a new organizer!) At the time, the Swiss entrepreneur was in his third year as co-founder of Holstee, a home goods start-up that made big waves with their Manifesto, a testament to the beliefs of the company’s founders. Two years later, Fabian is still growing Holstee and encouraging thoughtful living through their products and messaging. He now calls New York home. I met with Fabian in Holstee’s spacious sun-lit space in Brooklyn, New York to talk about the power of having people over for dinner, inspiring a mindful lifestyle, and sharin...

July's theme is Heritage

Morning Person: Vasco Mourao
We speak with our own Barcelona organizer Vasco Mourao on his circuitous route to following his dreams, his global adventures, and his peculiar obsession with horses.
CreativeMornings ♥'s Skillshare
We mad crushing on Skillshare this week and wanted to highlight some classes currently being taught by past CreativeMornings speakers.
May Round-Up
From Los Angeles to Prague, this May we covered the theme of Freedom across our 75 chapters. The theme was chosen by our Budapest organizer Daria Belinskaya and her team. With speakers ranging from former dissidents to ballet choreographers, CreativeMornings chapters truly let freedom ring around the world. Here’s a collection of some of the best snapshots from our local chapter events. Free hugs in CreativeMornings/Atlanta! CreativeMornings/Chicago hosted their first happy hour with Dallas Clayton, artist and illustrator. Happy Birthday, Porto! CreativeMornings/Pittsburgh had their mayor, Bill Peduto as the month’s speaker.
Helena Price: Revelations
Kicking off the re-launch of our San Francisco chapter, photographer Helena Price speaks on creative freedom and her path to happiness.
