If simplicity is the ultimate sophistication, then this month’s theme is our most cosmopolitan yet. We’re talking about “Minimal” across 80+ chapters around the world. The theme was chosen by our Aarhus team and we were thrilled to have Andrew Neyeras the month’s illustrator.
Best said by a past CreativeMornings/NewYork speaker, and author of The Laws of Simplicity:
“Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious and adding the meaningful.” ―John Maeda
This month is all about the meaningful Maeda describes. Speakers this month will look at what ‘Minimal’ means in creativity and design, as well as the role it plays in our lives.
As always, free tickets are available starting the Monday before the talk.
Getting in the mindset for this month’s global theme “Freedom,“ brought to you by Shutterstock, we worked with their talented team to create something around this month’s theme. Pulling from past CreativeMornings talks, we chose quotes that resonated with us for their positive message on creative freedom.

Last Friday it was time to break free, as Graphic Designer and Founder of Threaded Magazine Kyra Clarke spoke about Creative Freedom for the May 2014 installment of CreativeMornings/ Auckland.
The morning was hosted by the super cool crew at LOT23 and proudly brought to you by Curative, Little Lot, and AUT with coffee and water generously provided by Coffee Supreme and Antipodes.
And thanks to Aria Taylor from Curative for taking the photos - Check out the full set here: CreativeMornings /AKL with Threaded Magazine »

We have an amazing team of volunteers and partners who help us make CreativeMornings happen every month. We think they’re super cool and you should totally meet them.
This week: Meet Natalie Tozer from LOT23, our host for tomorrows CreativeMornings! LOT23 is a creative haven committed to creating opportunities for creative people to connect and collaborate. On site you’ll find a cafe, a film/photography studio, a gallery, Brownstreet film and video production company, Threaded Magazine and an artist (or two!) in residence.
Find out more about LOT23 over on their website, or head in to check it out IRL. And you should definitely try their Island Style Raw Fish. It’s as good as my Papa’s and his is gooooooood so that’s pretty high praise.
