We believe in giving a damn: join us as we commit to doing the work of antiracism

As CreativeMornings organizers, we believe everyone is creative. That's why we volunteer to organize events where everyone is welcome. We believe doing so can inspire change in our neighborhoods. We know a creative life requires bravery and action, honesty and hard work. It's why we open every event with our manifesto. It's also why we are committed to doing the work of educating ourselves, confronting our own biases, and making our events—and our city—more inclusive for all.

We’re starting with three offerings. Join us wherever you are on your personal path…

Still figuring out how you want to make an impact? Not sure where to begin? This workshop is for you:

Put Your Power Where Your Mind Is - An Antiracism Activation Workshop

This virtual workshop will activate those who are interested in mapping their own antiracism path through reflection and design thinking activities, culminating in a clear, personalized action plan. This workshop is being offered on two dates:

Friday, July 10, 8:00-10:30am. Register here.

Saturday, July 11, 9:00-11:30am. Register here.

Want to talk with others and learn from peers? This film series is for you:

Antiracism Discussion Series: Ava DuVernay’s “When They See Us”

In this 5-week virtual discussion group, we’ll watch and discuss a mini-series that tells the story of the (now) “Exonerated Five,” the five seventh- and eight-graders wrongfully convicted of a rape in Central Park in 1989. Using the curriculum developed by DuVernay, we’ll explore how the systemic bias of the media and the criminal justice system led to their convictions.

The five sessions will be held from 7:00-9:00pm on each Thursday from July 16 to August 13. Register here.

Looking for guidance on how to be a better ally? This small group series is for you:

Aspiring Ally Development Workshop Series

This four-part, virtual workshop series is designed to help those who aspire to be allies for social justice learn, reflect, develop, and move toward action. The focus is on how we work toward justice from places of systemic privilege.

There are two options for this four-part series:

Tuesday mornings from 8:00-9:00am, starting July 14. Register here.

Wednesday mornings from 8:00-9:00am, starting July 15. Register here
