We are very happy to introduce our September Hosts for Monthly Theme DEPTH -
ILLUSTRATION LADIES VIENNA
Global creative network for professional illustrators
IllustrationLadies is a local and global creative network for professional illustrators with the aim to empower women, to promote exchange in a profession where each one works as a lone fighter. The IllustrationLadies network shows the stylistic diversity of the different female illustrators and creates visibility.
ILLUSTRATION SESSIONS
Network event series
At regular network meetings, the Illustration Sessions, the illustrators belonging to the network are invited to draw together, to get to know each other and to exchange ideas. They draw on a given theme or technique, on a large sheet of paper or individually in their sketchbook or iPad. The sessions take place approximately once a month. Seating is limited to keep the meeting personal and so that everyone has enough space to draw. Participation in the sessions is free of charge and are organized with a lot of heart and soul by Florine and Janina since 2018.
“With the sessions, we want to network illustrators with each other on the one hand and create visibility for the versatile talents and the profession itself on the other.”
The resulting illustrations have so far been exhibited at the Wienmuseum, the MuseumsQuartier (OFFF Vienna), the Künstlerhaus and the Vienna Book Fair, among others. The sessions are accompanied by photographs and shared on social media in order to present the resulting illustrations and the women behind them to a wider audience.

September’s Theme is Depth.
Depth is a measure of distance. Get a feel for it by traveling along a rock fissure that tunnels into the earth, stepping across the expanse between our galaxy and the next, or diving into the mysteries hidden within ourselves.
Depth is a space that denies easy ways of seeing or comprehending — when we shine a light into the deep blue of the ocean, we cannot see much further than the surface. In our age of instant answers, we bristle at this resistance. It’s often easier to reduce people, places, and ideas into flattened renderings, rather than grapple with the nuanced and contradictory truths found in their depths.
In what depths could you submerge yourself if you let curiosity guide you? Ask open-ended questions and listen for responses to arise. With patience, watch those questions transform and transmute as they travel further. Blink your eyes open in the abyss, lose your frame of reference, and discover something altogether new.
Our Columbus chapter chose this month’s exploration of Depth and Bryan Christopher Moss illustrated the theme.
We are exited to go on a new level with you this month - coming back from our pandemic break, we are preparing something special- cause we want the fresh start to be more diverse, creative and open to new creative ideas! Stay tuned!

Dear Community, CreativeMornings/Vienna is a strong community. We’ve been monitoring the international and domestic response to the growing concerns over COVID-19. Public health authorities are strongly advocating the use of “social distancing” as a way to slow the spread of the coronavirus, and calling on community organizations to seek out alternatives to large social gatherings. We care about your safety, and the safety of the broader community, and feel it is more important than ever to find ways to connect and celebrate creativity, culture, conversation, and community.Therefore we have cancelled the event this month. Until further notice from the government our April event will be moved online.We believe in the power of gathering face to face. But we also believe in protecting the health and safety of our creative community, so the hugs and high fives will have to be digital during these extraordinary circumstances! We look forward to updating you with more information as it becomes available. We ask you to take care of those who are at risk and stay at home. Stay healthy!
