Benjamin Derico

I’m Ben Derico — a journalist and documentary filmmaker in San Francisco. I’ve worked as a staff Video Journalist & Producer with BBC News and produced for The Intercept, CNN, The Washington Post, and Público, Portugal’s largest newspaper, as well. When not filming my own stories, I work with other content creators, journalists, and non-fiction filmmakers to capture stunning visuals that put story first.

For a decade I worked as a commercial video producer, editor, and director. I crafted edits on big budget ads, filmed beautiful frames for branded content projects, and produced engaging online content for social media. While my work mostly focuses on non-fiction storytelling, I work with select brands, non-profits, and agencies on commercial projects with my studio Sidekick Video (sidekickvideo.com)

I work in English, Spanish and Portuguese. I have experience producing and shooting Live TV via LiveU and I am HEFAT trained.
