Each month we ask our speaker some probing questions to give us a deeper glimpse into their life and relationship with creativity:
How do you define and apply creativity in your life and career?
I define creativity as the ability to generate unique ideas and express them meaningfully. In my life and career, creativity plays a significant role, especially in my artistic practices. It’s how I channel my emotions and experiences into my art, whether through painting, dance, or design.
Where do you find your best creative inspiration or energy?
I find inspiration in arcades, art galleries, and nature. These spaces spark my imagination and help me connect with my inner creativity in different ways.
What’s one piece of creative advice or a tip you wish you’d known as a young person?
Use your emotions as inspiration. They’re an endless source of creative energy and can lead to some of the most meaningful work.
Who (living or dead) would you most enjoy hearing speak at CreativeMornings?
Pharrell Williams. His perspective on creativity and his ability to innovate across multiple fields are incredibly inspiring.
What keeps you awake at night?
Music often sparks my creativity late at night. Depending on the song, I start envisioning choreography and movements to match, which keeps my mind buzzing with ideas.
If you could interview anyone living or dead, but not a celebrity, who would it be and why?
I’d interview my grandmother on my dad’s side. I’ve heard so many incredible stories about her, and since I share her name as my middle name, I’d love to hear her story directly and understand the meaning behind it.
Where was the last place you traveled?
I traveled to Chile last September to shoot a Robitussin commercial. It was an amazing experience that combined work and exploration.
What practices, rituals, or habits contribute to your creative work?
Staying physically active through workouts, taking walks in nature, sitting by the ocean, meditating, watching nostalgic cartoons, and playing retro video games all contribute to my creative process. They keep my mind and spirit refreshed and ready to create.
