We’re excited for this month’s global theme “crossover.” Get ready for an awesome event with Josh Shepard, the speaker for this month’s upcoming CreativeMornings Houston event.

We just had this month’s #CMHou event yesterday, and we’re already pumped up for next month’s event!! Yea-yah! We have Josh Shepard, the founder of Smilebooth speaking on October 24th at Ecclesia, on the global theme of “crossover.” Get ready, and mark your calendars!

About Josh: after spending 8+ years in the forensic accounting world, concentrating on data mining and e-discovery, joshdecided to jump into the photobooth world in 2009.  seeing the need for a well designed, technologically advanced, modern photobooth in the marketplace, he and his wife set out to build just that.  while in the prototype phase of what would be known as QUESO, a chance meeting with his current partners in marfa, TX led to 5 days of desert driving discussing the future of what has become a trend at events all over the world, Smilebooth, basically the first ‘selfie’ machine.  josh, his wife, and soon to be three kids enjoy traveling the country and he likes to find time on a river with a fly rod as often as time allows, having even been found fly rod in hand along white oak bayou to get a quick fix.

We’re stoked about the upcoming music performance for CreativeMornings Houston! We get to have johnwayneisdead kick things off on Friday, the 26th, at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

xoxo,

Check out our upcoming CreativeMornings Houston #CMHou speaker, Sara Eliason’s website. Her interior design projects make for some eye candy.

Mark your calendars for September 26th! We’ll be coming at you with another CreativeMornings Houston. Sara Eliason will be the featured speaker, and will tackle the global theme of “color.” Looking forward to coming out to the MFAH to catch Sara’s talk.

About Sara:

If we had to introduce Sara Eliason, and we do find ourselves having to a lot, we would say she is an interior designer….and then we’d back pedal out of that real fast.  She’s an intuitive, self taught, hippie, dippie, witchy, spirit  mama. She hails from Alaska….an Alaskan cowgirl by way of San Francisco and now Houston….I know it doesn’t really compute does it…color is noise to her…even her family (all four kids and her wife) wait for her to dress them to get the “color story” of the day just right. She sees the sacred and the beautiful in everything in the natural world in order to hear the spiritual world…yes, here’s the hippie dippie witchy wonderful part….she drinks water from a clay vessel and tastes the clay. She wants to build clayhouses for us to live within the skin of the earth. She wants the floor to be of the earth too. And the roof. She wants to plaster and paint with the clay to make the walls beautiful. She wants you to feel it. She wants to make paints from what grows in the clay and the dirt a.k.a. the soil. She wants to be able to build clayhouses from the clay from the place we live…like food…and wine…and salt…that would be terroir or local. This new, old indigenous language she will help translate to the world. She is a pioneer in the old ways. We might call her an Indigenous Designer, but then we’ll back pedal out of that fast…maybe Slow Designer….yeah no….there are so many words but none quite do the job.

We’re super excited to have Hearts of Animals performing at the upcoming CreativeMornings Houston, on August 22nd!

About Hearts of Animals:
Mlee Marie has appeared on recordings by and collaborated with Young Mammals, The Mathletes (Joe Mathlete), and The Linus Pauling Quartet.  She also performs as the White Strips – a White Stripes tribute band – with artist/husband Chris Cascio.  She has had the honor of performing as part of a hand-picked ensemble of musicians to accompany Daniel Johnston for a performance in 2012.  She has also played with artists such as Fiery Furnaces, Casio Tone for the Painfully Alone, and Nat Baldwin (of Dirty Projectors).  Additionally she has performed at Free Press Summerfest in 2009 and as a showcasing artist at SXSW in 2008.
"There’s room for a little bit of everything in HOA, yet the music never feels like a kitchen-sink contrivance. Superb songcraft and a delicate touch allow her to create music that is at once astonishingly heavy and gossamer-light; under her spell, seemingly disparate concepts and styles play nicely with one another. Dense noise provides the perfect foil for power-pop sugar; cheaply effective Casio beats underscore stabbing waves of pseudo-shoegaze psychedelia. This is musical magical realism to turn Gabriel García Márquez green-eyed with envy.” — Nicholas L. Hall, Houston Press
